Dear Friends,
As supporters of the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley, we wanted you to be among the first to hear some exciting news about the next chapter of this great organization.

After more than nine years of dedicated service and transformational work on behalf of women and girls across our region, our Executive Director, Susan Latoski, will be retiring in early 2019. Susan assumed her role in 2009 at the height of a major recession, the Foundation’s resources were limited and grant support amounted to only $11,000 that year. Fast forward to today, the organization has built tremendous capacity and is about to award over $100K in grants to 12 organizations this year. Additionally, within this same time period, our Girls’ Initiative After School Literacy Program has grown from about 50 girls to nearly 500 girls participating annually. We are extremely proud of this progress and owe our utmost gratitude to Susan, and friends like you, for getting us here through hard work, leadership and vast community connections.

As much as we’ll miss Susan, we know she will still be a big supporter of our work and you can expect to see her at our events and programs, smiling and championing our cause as always. We ask that you help us wish Susan well in enjoying her well-earned retirement. Details regarding our celebration of Susan and opportunities for you to wish her well will be forthcoming in the months ahead.

It’s an exciting time at the Women’s Foundation.
•We’ve just completed our next strategic plan that includes new goals around advocacy, diversity and the ability to grow our impact through additional grant-making and education.
•We’re in the process of revamping our vision statement that will help guide our work over the next two decades.
•We recently launched our “Lift Your Sister” campaign that inspires people with the idea that “when we lift women, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.”
•We’re actively prepping for our Annual Luncheon on November 7th where we get to celebrate with nearly 300 of our closest friends, and recognize over a dozen organizations in our community doing the extremely tough programmatic work of helping women and girls achieve economic self-sufficiency.

The Women’s Foundation’s future is bright with ambitious goals. We’ve seen firsthand that it takes a special kind of person to lead an organization like ours and we’re confident we’re going to find the next person to lead this great organization. We have assembled a search and interview committee that’s made up of both board members and community members who are connected to the core ideals of our mission in some way: women and girls, poverty, education, to name a few.

Our search process has officially kicked off. You can find the job posting and other details on our website at womensfoundation.org/careers/ as well as via our LinkedIn page linkedin.com/company/women’s-foundation-of-genesee-valley/. We encourage you to share our posting with family, friends, and your network of professionals.

We look forward to this next chapter for the Women’s Foundation and as always, appreciate your support along the way.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Board Chair, Karen Serinis, at kserinis@cnbank.com or Susan at slatoski@womensfoundation.org.

Sincerely,

Women’s Foundation Board of Directors
